Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel, P.C. welcomes two experienced attorneys, Lodie Biggs and Daniel Cole, who will support a variety of the firm's practice areas, including business, intellectual property, and real estate.

Mr. Biggs advises clients on complex commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, due diligence, leasing, financing, land use, and development. With more than 25 years of experience, he supports corporations throughout the entire real estate lifecycle and helps them navigate the intersection of real estate, finance, and public-private partnerships. Mr. Biggs also counsels clients on economic development matters, such as corporate expansions, relocation projects, and incentive negotiations across the Southeast. He works with both domestic and international companies, guiding projects from initial planning through construction and hiring, while ensuring regulatory compliance. In addition, he regularly serves as general counsel to municipalities and economic development agencies and represents both lenders and borrowers in commercial lending. Mr. Biggs' work spans multiple industries, including manufacturing, industrial, research and development, data centers, and distribution. He is an alumnus of the University of Virginia School of Law.
Mr. Cole counsels clients on a wide range of intellectual property (IP) matters, with a focus on patent and trademark law for chemical and biochemical companies. A registered patent attorney, he works with independent inventors, startups, university researchers, and established businesses to evaluate patent and trademark eligibility, draft applications, and develop strategies to protect and enforce IP rights. Mr. Cole also advises clients facing infringement claims, offering defense strategies rooted in experience and a deep understanding of each client’s goals. His background includes supporting a Fortune 500 chemical company and assisting startup and university clients with global patent prosecution, examiner interviews, and complex IP filings. He has worked with technologies ranging from surgical devices and personalized medicine to lignin nanoparticles and drone systems. Mr. Cole also prepares noninfringement and invalidity opinions for clients in the medical device and food industries. He is an alumnus of the University of North Carolina School of Law.
