Lucius Menifee, Jr., affectionately known as “Junior,” passed away peacefully on Monday, May 19, 2025, at the age of 65, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Born on July 26, 1959, to the late Rev. Lucius Menifee, Sr., and Louise Douglas Menifee, Junior was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and a proud graduate of Howard High School, Class of 1977. He was a man of the Baptist faith and was well known for his warm spirit and dedication to his community.

Throughout his life, Lucius held several positions, including at Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home, Standard Coosa Thatcher, and Top Flight Paper Company. He was also an entrepreneur, formerly owning Family BBQ and the Chattanooga Escort Service.

Lucius was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edward “Buster” Chapman, James Jeffrey (Anita) Menifee, and Calvin Menifee; and sister, Barbara Jean Chapman.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving children, daughter, Latarsha J. Collier; sons, Montez Menifee and Christian Menifee; and stepson, Brandon Wordlaw. He was a devoted grandfather to twelve grandchildren: Mar'Quiesha Conyers, Latavious Conyers, Cameron Conyers, Abigail Menifee, Aniyah Menifee, Malayah Menifee, Christian Menifee, Jr., Baylee Wordlaw, Breelyn Wordlaw, Noella Wordlaw, Cassius Wordlaw, and Brandon Wordlaw, Jr.

He is also survived by his brothers, Fredrick Brown, Willie Lee (Clothied) Menifee, Darrell (Alicia) Menifee, and Marvin (June) Menifee; sisters, Joyce (Larry) Chapman, Gwendolyn Smith, Charlotte Brown, Alice Turner, and Willie Ruth (Wendell) Menifee; his loving companion, Keasha Nelson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Lucius will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, and the love he shared with all who knew him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Public viewing will be from 2-6 p.m. on Friday, June 6, at the funeral home. A celebration of Lucius' remarkable life will be held on Saturday, June 7, in the chapel of John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., Chattanooga, 423 622-9995.

Interment will follow at Summit Cemetery on Sanders Road, Summit.
