Lady Vols Lose Heartbreaker In World Series Opener

  • Thursday, May 29, 2025

The Lady Vols Softball team looked poised to pull off a first round upset in the College Softball World Series. Playing in front of their home crowd in Oklahoma City, the Sooners were one out away from defeat when Ella Parker hit a walk off, three run homerun to stun the Lady Vols by a score of 4-3.

Vols SEC Pitcher of the Year Karlyn Pickens dominated through six innings. In the seventh she retired the first two batters but then two runners reached in front of Parker and she slammed a three run homerun.

With her second homerun of the day Parker drove in all four runs and the Lady Vols coaches will have a difficult night of sleep knowing they could have walked her to load the bases.
