The City of Collegedale announces that while the Katie Lamb Library undergoes renovations, library services and programming are still going strong. During construction, the library has temporarily relocated to the East Room of City Hall, located right across from the playground.
Library cardholders can continue to check out books, browse selections and enjoy their favorite events, including regular Story Time and Preschool Story Hour. Library hours remain unchanged:
Monday – Thursday: 10 a.m.-7 p.m.;
Friday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; and
Saturday & Sunday: 1-5 p.m.
The renovation project, scheduled to be completed by mid-July, will bring new features to the library, including:
• A larger meeting room;
• Three private study rooms;
• A business center; and
• An expanded children’s book area.
Despite the temporary location, the Summer Reading Program is still happening.
Starting this coming Monday, this year’s Summer Reading Program theme is “Color Our World,” and it’s open to participants of all ages. Pick up a reading log booklet from the library and complete the 20 for 20 Challenge – read for 20 minutes a day for 20 days – for a chance to win prizes. The program runs until Aug. 1, and conclude with a celebration party.
Officials said, "The Collegedale Commissioners are committed to supporting literacy and learning, and this year’s program promises fun for the whole family. Be on the lookout for special events held in nearby parks and pavilions—including a special story time with our favorite School Resource Officer, Cordario Eatmon."
