Frances “Cricket” Haynes Bailey
Frances “Cricket” Haynes Bailey, 85, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 31, 2025, at a local health care facility.
Cricket was born in Chattanooga to Russell and Virginia Haynes on July 5, 1939.
She was an avid sewer and quilter, spending many hours at the sewing machine making clothes and quilts. She was a member of several sewing and quilting guilds. Cricket was very involved in the women’s Bible study class at Ridgedale Baptist Church. She regularly attended church with her late husband Charlie. She also enjoyed many family vacations over the years with her husband Charlie and their two sons. Daytona Beach was a favorite vacation spot for the family. After her husband retired, they enjoyed traveling through the US.
She was a 1956 graduate of Chattanooga City High School, a member of Brainerd Hills Baptist Church and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Cricket was involved extensively in genealogy and family history.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Charles “Charlie” L. Bailey, father, Russell Haynes, Sr., mother, Virginia Haynes, and brother, Russell Haynes, Jr.
She is survived by her two sons, Charles David (Mary Beth) Bailey of Tunnel Hill, Ga., and Troy Alan (Beth) Bailey of Ringgold, Ga., grandsons, Adam and Andrew and sister, Sandy Rogers.
The family will receive friends from 12–2 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in McDonald, Tn., with Pastor David Nix officiating.
