Coach Mike Policastro Enters Hall Of Fame
Cleveland State Community College Athletics Director and retired head baseball coach, Michael Policastro, has been inducted into the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) Hall of Fame. Policastro will be recognized for this honor prior to the Cougars home baseball game on Thursday, April 17, 1 p.m. on the Cougar Field.
Policastro has been the Athletics Director at the college for 28 years. In 2024, he retired after
serving as the head baseball coach for 30 years. A former collegiate baseball player, Policastro graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan University (TWU) with a degree in physical education in 1983. He entered the coaching ranks at TWU before joining Cleveland State as head baseball coach in 1993.
Policastro has coached and mentored over 250 student athletes who have moved onto four-year
universities and 30 students who have entered professional baseball. Two hundred players have
earned Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) academic honors while 75 players have earned academic honors from the National Junior College Athletic Association.
During Policastro’s 37 years as a head baseball coach, he has earned “Coach of the Year” multiple times. He was an inductee into the TWU Hall of Fame in 2003 and the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2023.
As a community leader, he has served as a baseball clinician at hundreds of baseball camps in
Tennessee while maintaining professional membership in the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association since its inception as well as the American Baseball Coaches Association.
