The Chanticleer Inn on Lookout Mountain has new owners and is to be refurbished.
The quaint lodge at the corner of Ochs Highway near Rock City Gardens has been acquired by Bill and Joan Chapin and Chris and Susan Maclellan. Mr. Chapin is president of Rock City.
The new owners said the inn will be completely renovated, though it will keep its name and retain its basic features.
Plans are to reopen it this April.
The innkeepers will be Kirby and Judy Wahl, parents of Susan Maclellan. They are from California.
The remodeled inn will offer 18 rooms, including a cottage on Alladin Road.
Chanticleer Inn was constructed of local mountain stone in the 1930s.
The inn has its own swimming pool.
Each room will have antiques, a private bathroom, cable TV, heat and air, stocked refrigerator, and "a uniqueness that separates it from every other room."
