Esther Louise Barry, 83, of Chattanooga, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, in a local health care facility.
She was born Oct. 17, 1922, to the late William H. and Rosa A. Mansell in Haleyville, AL, but had lived in the Chattanooga area for many years.
She was a 1940 graduate of Haleyville High School. Mrs. Barry was a member of East Ridge Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday school and had also served as assistant librarian. She was a member of the Chapel Sunday School Class.
Her sisters, Pearl Gordy and Clara Capps; and a brother, Wallace Mansell, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, John Barry; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Edith Barry, of Ooltewah, Benjamin "Benny" and Lee Ann Barry, of Charlotte, N.C., John Douglas Barry, of College Park, MD; grandchildren, Greg Barry and Ben Barry, of Chattanooga; Laina Barry and Christian Barry, of Charlotte, N.C.; and three nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the East Chapel with Dr. Ronnie Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. The Chapel Sunday School class will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
