Tandus US Inc. a commercial floor covering manufacturer, has announced several strategic management changes designed to enhance the company's future growth. Tandus unites three specialized floor covering brands - Monterey, C&A, and Crossley.
"Over the last three years, we have made significant strategic realignments within the Tandus organization to serve the marketplace and our customers more efficiently," said Mac Bridger, CEO, Tandus. "In 2002, we redefined the way our sales groups go to market, organizing them by end market served rather than by product brand. More recently, the move was made to consolidate our broadloom carpet production into single facility located in Nova Scotia, thereby closing our Santa Ana, Calif., manufacturing facility."
According to Mr. Bridger, "The final component of this strategy is ensuring that we have the right management structure to be able to service this growth. We have a highly talented senior management team and these promotions maximize our internal strengths.”
The following management changes are effective Feb. 1.
Ralph Grogan has been named Senior Vice President, Tandus. Mr. Grogan joined the company in 2002 as President of Monterey Carpets. He will continue in this role, while adding enterprise responsibilities. In his new position, sales, product design and development, and Dalton manufacturing will report to Grogan. He has acquired experience in sales, marketing, operations and product development over his career. Mr. Grogan will be relocating to Dalton from Santa Ana, Calif.
Jeff Raabe has been named Senior Vice President, Tandus. Formerly Vice President of Sales, Tandus Specialized, Mr. Raabe will now hold sales responsibility for the Americas. All sales organizations for the United States, Canada, Mexico and South America will now report to him. Mr. Raabe has 20 years of sales and executive management experience with the company. With this change in responsibility, Tandus Corporate/Design, led by Hugh Morrow, Tandus Canada, led by Carl Hulme, and Tandus Specialized will report to Raabe.
Tom Ellis has been named Vice President, Sales, Tandus Specialized. Formerly Vice President of Marketing, Mr. Ellis will lead the sales organization dedicated to the education, healthcare and government end markets. During the four years in which he had marketing responsibility for the education segment, Mr. Ellis was instrumental in helping grow that business at a double-digit rate. He was promoted to Vice President of Marketing in 2003 with strategic marketing responsibility for the Specialized segments.
Wallace J. Hammel has been named Senior Vice President, Tandus. Formerly Vice President of Manufacturing for Dalton operations. Mr. Hammel will move into a more strategic role affecting all of Tandus. His new responsibilities will include Tandus Technologies, the company's research and development arm; Corporate Engineering; Quality Control; and the yarn extrusion facility in Calhoun, Ga. He will also be involved in special projects such as the company's current expansion into China. Mr. Hammel has been with C&A and Tandus since 1983.
Dan Mayfield has been named Vice President, Manufacturing, C&A Floorcoverings. Since joining the company in 1984, Mr. Mayfield has been heavily involved in the manufacturing side of the business. He spent 10 years in production planning, five years as plant manager for the C&A Finishing Plant, and has served as Director of Manufacturing for the C&A brand for the last five years.
Warren Deviney has been named Vice President, Operations, C&A Floorcoverings. Mr. Deviney will continue to supervise the customer service, purchasing, claims administration, field claims, Source One, and production planning departments. For more than 25 years, Mr. Deviney has been focused on operations for the company.
"We must continually evaluate our company to ensure that we are a world-class enterprise. It's critical that companies constantly look for a better way to serve the customer," said Mr. Bridger. "By making these changes to enhance efficiency in our sales and operational organizations, we are poised for significant growth in all market segments."
