Cornelia Moses Braly, 77, died on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2005.
She was born in Cedartown, GA, on June 24, 1928, but spent her early years in Lakeland, FL. She moved to Chattanooga in 1954. Mrs. Braly was a 1951 graduate of Florida State University and was a member of the first graduating coeducational class.
She was an active volunteer for Girl Scouts and Meals on Wheels. She was a former member of the local chapter of the National Dental Auxiliary, the Riverview Garden Club and Chattanooga Golf and Country Club, where she enjoyed tennis and golf. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
Mrs. Braly was preceded in death by her father, the Rt. Rev. William Moses, former suffragan bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of South Florida; and her mother, Neal Moses; former husband, Dr. Thomas E. Braly Jr.; and daughter, Kathryn Hamilton Braly.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas III and Anne Braly; brother, Frank Moses, Florence, AL; sister, Carol Benigno, Sarasota, FL; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation.
Graveside services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Chattanooga Memorial Park with the Rev. Ben Nelson officiating.
