An Hispanic man was shot in front of his home at 2212 E. 14th St. Monday night. He died early Tuesday morning.
Chattanooga Police and Major Crimes Detectives are searching for two men who were seen inside his vehicle just before the shooting.
Police responded to 2212 E. 14th St. around 8:45 p.m. on a shooting and found 25-year-old Mario MeJilla Morales had been shot in the back. He was transported to Erlanger Medical Center by Hamilton County Ambulance.
Witnesses told police that before the shooting the victim walked outside his residence and observed two men inside his vehicle. The victim confronted the suspects and a verbal altercation occurred.
The victim began to go back into his house when one of the suspects fired one shot that struck the victim in his lower back.
Both suspects left the scene on foot and ran northbound on S. Lyerly St.
The first suspect is described as a black male, 5”8, slim build, low hair cut and wearing dark baggy pants. The second suspect is described as a black male, 5’10" with a slender build wearing a dark-colored jacket, baggy pants and a low hair cut as well.
Both suspects are believed to be in their late teens.
The victim was pronounced dead at Erlanger at approximately 2:09 a.m.
