Michael W. Smith Gives Acoustic Concert Sept. 30

  • Wednesday, September 20, 2006

Upcoming Christian artists who will be coming to the Chattanooga area include Michael W. Smith, BarlowGirl, and Mark Lowry.

Michael W. Smith will be in Chattanooga on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m.

Smith's visit to the campus of Tennessee Temple University is his very first acoustic performance for Chattanooga. The evening will include his music from two-plus-decades including his Praise & Worship series and his upcoming project STAND. The evening will be an intimate and inspirational event complimented with full production audio, lighting, and five-camera, two-screen video. The Chattanooga concert is one of only 24 stops across the country this fall.

VIP music leaders from the community will have an opportunity to attend the Michael W. Smith concert and join Michael backstage for a time of prayer right before the concert. Go to www.dmiconcerts.com , click the "Music Leaders" button and complete the RSVP form. Space is limited to the first 125 responses. You will receive an email confirmation which will serve as your complimentary admission to the concert and your pass into the backstage area before the show.

The sister trio of Christian rock, more popularly known as BarlowGirl, stops in Chattanooga on Thursday, Oct. 26, on the campus of Tennessee Temple University at 7 p.m. The "Don't Conform Tour," will also showcase Matthew West and downhere.

Matthew West was recently crowned one of the top 10 Christian songwriters in Billboard magazine. West's song "Only Grace" will be featured on the upcoming WOW Hits CD. Canadians downhere just released their third album after taking a three-year break.

Mark Lowry stops here on Friday, Nov. 17, on the campus of Tennessee Temple University at 7 p.m.

"I am having the time of my life on this tour with LordSong and Stan Whitmire. The 'God Is Crazy About You' tour is my dream tour,” said Lowry. “I get to be the 'Bill Gaither' of the evening. In fact, I run the program just like Bill does. I have no idea where I'm going. We know what the first three songs are and we know what the last song is going to be but everything in between is a crap-shoot. That keeps it interesting for everyone. And, it gives the Spirit a chance to move us around in different directions to fit the needs of the audience. I want the folks in Chattanooga to have a good time. I want them to laugh (of course) but, more importantly, I want them to get it. I want people to leave knowing that God is absolutely, unconditionally out of His mind in love with them."

Walking in a Winter Wonder-Slam will Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. at Memorial Auditorium. The youth rally will include Ayiesha Woods, Family Force 5, The Afters, Hawk Nelson and Toby Mac and the band DiverseCity. Two free tickets are available with group orders. Reserved seat tickets go on sale Friday, Oct. 13.

To purchase tickets go to the Memorial Auditorium Box Office, www.dmiconcerts.com, call (423) 642-8497 or order by mail to DMI Concerts, PO Box 24061, Chattanooga, TN 37422.
