Earl Thomas Paige, Sr., 79, of Ringgold, died on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 in a local hospital.
Earl joined the U.S. Navy at age 16 and served in World War II. He met at age 16 and married at age 18 the love of his life, a love that endured over 61 years. He was a member of DESA (Destroyers Escort Service Association) and was retired from Dupont after 41 years of service. He had coached softball at Boynton Recreation Center and had been a softball official at Camp Jordan Park.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Vada Byrd and Louise Beahm.
He is survived by his wife, Betty L. Paige; children, Janet Marie Paige of Asheville, N.C., Earl T. Paige, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer of Jacksonville, Al.; and Dr. Lisa Paige and her husband, Dr. Barry Henderson of Hillsborough, N.C.; four grandchildren, William Henderson, Juliana Henderson, Blake Paige and Alexis Paige; two brothers, Herman A. Paige and Robert E. Paige; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Pastor Dennis Smith officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 404 South Moore Road.
