Charlotte Crevasse
Charlotte Chamberlain Crevasse died in a local hospital on June 21, 2008.
She was a native of Chattanooga, born on October 16, 1928 to the late Charles T. and Gertrude Weber Chamberlain.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Anna Donovan.
She graduated from Chattanooga (City) High School and attended Brenau College for women in Gainesville, Ga. where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta fraternity. Charlotte graduated from the University of Florida in 1950.
She lived in Cincinnati, Ohio and Daytona Beach, Fl., before returning to Chattanooga in 1971. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and the Garden Club of Signal Mountain, and a former member of the Chattanooga Board of Realtors.
Charlotte was an avid reader and she shared that love by mentoring adults to learn to read.
Charlotte was dearly loved by her husband, Alton “Bud” Crevasse and her children, Karen Trautman, Clay (Jeana) Crevasse, Denise (Mike) Taylor, and Chris (Kathleen) Crevasse.
“Nini” loved her grandchildren, and with her infectious laugh, happy feet, adventurous spirit, and unbounded love she created lifelong memories with Sara, Diane and David (Megan) Trautman, Brian (Katie), Julia, and Clayton Crevasse, all of Florida; Kate, Kirby, and Emma Taylor and Tessa and Isabel Crevasse of Lookout Mountain; and her two great-grandchildren, Peyton and Lily Crevasse of Jacksonville, Fl. Charlotte will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Partnership for Families and Children or St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Stephen Ministry.
The family will receive visitors at 2 p.m. preceding a memorial service at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Donald Fishburne, The Rev. and Honorable Sam H. Payne, Rev. Suzanne Smitherman officiating. A celebration of Charlotte’s life will follow interment of her ashes.
