Proudly Voting For McCain-Palin, Not Just Against Obama-Biden - And Response

  • Friday, September 5, 2008

Last night I, along with almost 38 million other Americans, watched Sarah Palin deliver the best political speech I have ever heard. Arguably, Barak Obama can give a good speech; but Sarah Palin's sincerity, wit and command of the issues has convinced me that the Republican ticket is the true ticket to bring "change we can believe in."

The change the McCain and Palin will bring will be positive change. The pair will:

Grow the economy by drilling for oil to increase supply and lower prices; keeping tax rates low; and cutting out earmark spending; and not mortgaging our countries future with unnecessary social programs that's only purpose is to solidify the Democrat Party’s control over a large part of our populations lives.

Protect the country by continuing to keep her on offence against Islamic terrorists. Despite Obama-Biden's ridiculous claims to the contrary, the Democrat's got it wrong in Iraq. Had we followed their plan, our troops would be home in defeat instead of victorious, as they are now. McCain deserves credit for his stance and Obama-Biden need to stop misrepresenting the position they held leading up to the surge.

Appoint Supreme Court Justices in the mold of Roberts, Alito and Thomas instead of Breyer, Ginsburg and Souter. This alone is reason enough to defeat the Democrat ticket. The next President will nominate two or three justices who will rule on decisions that will affect our society for generations. Remember, the left-leaning justices all voted against the 2nd amendment in a recent case. Had they held a majority, the rights of the citizens of this country to bear arms would have been drastically diminished.

The Democrat Party and their nominees are so obviously misleading in their comments and hypocritical in their actions. For example:

Obama claims to be a proponent of equal pay for women and has stated that McCain is against equal pay and opportunity. Is he talking about the same McCain who just historically chose a woman to be his running mate? The facts do not lie and here they are. The Obama campaign employees 33 men (average salary $59,207) and 31 women (average salary $48,279). The McCain campaign employees 16 men (average pay $56,000) and 30 women (average salary $59,104). Equal pay for women?

Obama and Biden both claimed in interviews today to have supported the 'surge'. This is a lie and they should be called to task for it. Both were adamantly opposed to any "escalation" and both voted to cut off funding to American troops in the battlefield.

Obama has claimed that I as a middle class person will not pay additional taxes. However, small business owners who I buy products from will see their taxes increase from 39% to 54%. Barak Obama will become a majority business partner with every successful small business in America. These business' will not just sit back and make 15% less profit, they will pass the tax to consumers – including middle and lower class consumers. This is a tax increase no matter how the Democrats spin it.

The far left liberal wing of the Democrat Party, including supposed feminist groups and media hacks have been attacking Sarah Palin relentlessly for days. News stories and commentary have been filled with exaggerations and mistruths. The reason, they say, is to scrutinize Palin. Where have these truth seekers been the last year when Obama needed to be scrutinized? Why are feminist groups against her? The fact is that they only want equal rights for liberal women, and Palin is, according to them, not pro-choice. I say that Sarah Palin is indeed exercising her right to choose – and she is choosing to support life.

George W. Bush has made plenty of missteps in the past four years. He has, in many cases, governed like a Democrat. However, under the leadership of Republicans, we are now winning in Iraq, the economy grew at 3.3% last month (three times that of the European economies that Obama seems to admire), oil prices are down as we mobilize to begin more drilling and we have nominated John McCain and Sarah Palin to defeat the Democrats and lead the country towards positive change that we can believe in.

I am now proudly voting for John McCain and Sarah Palin and no longer just against the Obama-Biden ticket.

Dear Chris,

I'm happy to know that you enjoyed Palin's speech last night, but you must be new to politics if that was the best political speech you've ever heard.

I'll grant you she did a great job of reading the speech. She's very attractive, has good timing, and a clear speaking voice. But, unlike Barak Obama, she didn't write that speech. It was written for her by the McCain campaign.

Moreover, the speech was long on one-liners, but short on solutions. There was no mention of what McCain-Palin would do, if elected, to address the economy, real estate, healthcare, abuse of power, etc.

If you believe the Republicans will bring "change we can believe in," you must not realize that the change the country wants and needs is a move away from the Bush-Cheney policies of the past seven plus years. McCain is now in almost total agreement with George W. Bush on every issue. Is that the change you want? Really?

Let's break it down. You said you believe the McCain campaign's claims that they will:
1. Grow the economy by drilling for oil -- I don't know, maybe you work ExxonMobile, but the economy is more than the oil industry. Drilling for oil would have zero impact on gas prices or the economy outside of the oil patch during the next eight years. After that, it might lower gas prices by as much as two cents per gallon, this, according to oil industry analysts.
2. Keep tax rates low -- If you would actually take the time to read their economic plans as I have, you would know that Obama is actually proposing to lower taxes for 95% of Americans. But, if you do work for ExxonMobile, maybe you're in the top 5% who would actually pay a little more under the Obama plan.
3. Cut out earmark spending -- In fact, the fastest way to grow the economy is a massive domestic spending program that creates millions of good-paying jobs in the U.S.A., not Iraq. The WPA got us out of the Great Depression and we need something almost that big to safe our economy. But then, if you work for ExxonMobile, you probably think the economy is ok.
4. Not mortgage our country's future with unnecessary social programs -- Of course social programs are "unnecessary" to you. ExxonMobile no doubt pays for your health insurance, retirement plan, disability income insurance, etc. But what about unnecessary military spending? We spend a lot more on that. The U.S. spends more than all other countries on earth--enemies and allies combined. And over 50% of our budget on the U.S. war machine.

You claim McCain will "protect the country" by continuing to keep the U.S. on offense against Islamic terrorists, but it was the U.S. military's presence in Saudi Arabia that was one of the main causes of 9-11.

You claim the Democrat's got it wrong in Iraq, but had we followed Obama and a majority of the Democrats in Congress, we would never have invaded Iraq. Sure you think that invading Iraq was a good idea, but then--if you work for ExxonMobile--you would be enjoying the spoils of war in the form of no-bid contracts.
