  • Tuesday, October 6, 2009

Chattanooga Police said 68 computer hard drives were stolen from a BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee storage facility over the weekend.

Police said an alarm went off at the building at Eastgate Town Center on Friday, but police were not summoned.

Police were notified on Monday of the theft.

Sgt. Jerri Weary said she had no information on what kind of data might have been stored on the computer equipment.

BlueCross officials only would say that state and federal authorities had been asked to investigate the theft.

Officials said they did not know if personal information was stored on the equipment.

BlueCross has been in the process of moving from Eastgate to the new campus on Cameron Hill.
