A LaFayette grocery store stakes its reputation on friendly, hometown customer service while giving back to the community.
LaFayette Downtown Development Authority Promotions Committee named Shop-Rite as June’s Downtown Business of the Month because the store consistently lives up to its mission “to provide food at reasonable prices in an ethical manner” and for being a generous corporate citizen.
“Shop-Rite employees make their relationships with customers a top priority by being friendly and courteous throughout the shopping experience,” Shop-Rite Supermarkets meat director Todd Richardson said.
Shop-Rite strives to provide top name brands and private label groceries, as well as the highest quality meats and produce prepared fresh everyday in-store by professional management staff, he said. Shop-Rite also provides full carry-out services.
Shop-Rite’s on-going community services include partnering with local schools and providing discounts to schools, churches and other charitable groups, he said. Shop-Rite supports several charities, including Special Olympics and the Empty Stocking Fund.
Shop-Rite was established in 1956 as American Consumers Inc. Shop-Rite also operates stores in Ringgold, Chatsworth, Chickamauga and Tunnel Hill; Stevenson, Al.; and Dayton and Jasper, Tn. The chain employs 220 people.
“At Shop-Rite we enjoy being located in downtown LaFayette because it is very convenient for our loyal customers,” LaFayette store manager Terry Gibson said. “It’s important for downtown to stay active so that local businesses will flourish, therefore enabling businesses to better support LaFayette by providing the services they provide to the community.”
“Shop-Rite is always looking for the opportunity to expand and grow in the food industry and our local communities,” Mr. Richardson said.
