COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - Tennessee Tech's Maddie Schmissrauter turned in outstanding performances in both of her starts last weekend at the Buzz Classic as she led the Golden Eagles to two of their three wins. The junior finished the weekend 2-0 with a 0.58 earned run average and 15 strikeouts as she allowed just one earned run in 12.0 innings of work.

On Monday, Schmissrauter, the former Baylor School standout, was recognized for her performances, earning Buzz Classic All-Tournament Team and OVC co-Pitcher of the Week honors. She shared the OVC weekly award with Morehead State's Alex Gjevre.

Schmissrauter was the lone Golden Eagle to earn all-tournament Team honors after the team finished 3-2 at the Buzz Classic, good for seventh place in the 22-team tournament.

Against Western Carolina, Schmissrauter got her first start of the season and made it count, shutting down a Catamounts offense that was only able to muster four hits and no runs on the afternoon. Schmissrauter went the distance and earned the victory as the Golden Eagle offense backed her with 11 runs.

One day later, Schmissrauter picked up where she left off as she allowed just one earned run over 7.0 innings against Ole Miss. She struck out seven Rebels as she won her second game in as many days.

This is the first time this season and second time in her career that Schmissrauter has earned OVC Pitcher of the Week honors.

On the season, Schmissrauter leads the team and ranks second in the OVC with a 1.48 earned run average. She owns a 3-1 record with 32 strikeouts and has gone the distance in each of her two starts.
