Cole Stockard of Dalton, Ga., finished tied for second at the Southern Junior Golf Championship held at Seminole Legacy Golf Club.

Tyler Sanford of Montgomery, Tex., held onto his Round Two lead to claim the 52nd Southern Junior Championship title. He fired four birdies on Friday and went five-under 211 overall.

“It was a grind today,” said Sanford. “This golf course is very hard and mentally draining. But, it feels amazing to be the champion. I feel like a weight has been lifted off my chest, I really don’t even know how to explain it.”

Stockard and Jaxon Bandelier of Austin, Tex., carded three-under 213 to finish in the second place tie.

Stockard on Friday had carded a one-over 73 and was at an overall score of three-under 141.

Sanford made a total of five birdies in round two.

“It was an up and down round, a lot of birdies and a lot of bogies, but it was a grind today and I’m glad I’m done,” said Sanford. “The course is amazing and the staff has been very kind. I’m just loving it here right now.”

Stockard, a Dalton High Catamount, is due to graduate in 2025 and plans to continue his golfing career at the University of Kentucky.
