TVA Announces New Online Recreation Map

  • Thursday, May 6, 2010

Locating the more than 1,000 recreation areas on Tennessee Valley Authority reservoirs is now easier with the launch of a new website that allows visitors to find recreation areas by reservoirs or name. Website users can easily search for marinas, parks, boat ramps and campgrounds.

The website uses Google mapping technology to provide information about the recreation area including visitor activities, amenities, contact information and detailed driving directions.

The new website address is: http://recreation.tva.com.

“Millions of people enjoy recreational activities on TVA reservoirs each year.

The reservoirs and the thousands of acres of TVA-managed public lands offer abundant opportunities for fun-filled activities,” said Anda Ray, senior vice president of Environment and Technology. “The new TVA recreation website is very easy to use and will help users take full advantage of the many TVA recreation areas located throughout the Tennessee River Valley.”

TVA’s seasonal campgrounds are now open, and day-use recreation areas located on reservoirs are open year-round. Day-use recreation areas feature hiking, fishing, boating, picnicking, wildlife viewing and swimming. Additional information on recreation opportunities on TVA reservoirs is available by calling 800-882-5263 or on TVA’s website at http://www.tva.com.
