RiverRocks Has Hot Air Balloon Rides

  • Thursday, September 23, 2010

Numerous hot air balloons will fill Coolidge Park and Baylor School and offer scenic rides of Chattanooga’s views as part of the RiverRocks schedule on Saturday, Oct. 2, and Sunday, Oct. 3, beginning at 7:45 a.m.

Professional balloonists will give rides that last approximately an hour and will include views of the city’s skyline along with the mountains, river and downtown. Rides are limited, and must be reserved in advance through the Chattanooga Presents office at 265-0771. Cost is $250 per individual.

Tethered hot air balloons will be at Coolidge Park and Baylor School offering bird’s eye views. Come with camera in hand as early as 8 a.m. for this opportunity to rise up in a hot air balloon and observe the views Chattanooga has to offer. Rides last approximately five minutes and are tethered up to 50 feet in the air. Rides are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12.

Bring the night to a close with a Hot Air Balloon “Glow” as Coolidge Park is filled with 10-12 hot air balloons inflated and illuminated on the ground, offering a spectacle for audiences from all parts of the waterfront to enjoy. The Hot Air Balloon “Glow” will be in place from 7-9 p.m., complementing activities such as Wine Over Water on the Walnut Street Bridge, and the 3 Sisters Bluegrass Festival at Ross’s Landing, happening simultaneously.

All rides are weather dependent and riders must sign a release. No refunds will be made after Sept. 27. The hot air balloons are courtesy of BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee.

For more information on the hot air balloon experiences, visit www.riverrockschattanooga.com or call 265-0771. RiverRocks is produced by Chattanooga Presents! and sponsored by Unum, Fat Tire, Michelob Ultra, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, Volkswagen and Fidelity Trust.
