David Vandergriff
David Vandergriff, 75, of Hixson, died on Tuesday, April 1, 2012 at a local hospital.
He was retired from Combustion Engineering after 30 years of service and worked in landscaping for 13 years. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He was a lifetime member of the International Association of Machinist Local 56.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Nina Vandergriff, brothers, Bill Vandergriff, Garnett Vandergriff, Jack Vandergriff, sisters, Audra Payne, Marjorie Shipley.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Qualls Vandergriff of Hixson, son, Douglas Vandergriff of Abingdon, VA., daughter, Sharon Vandergriff Potter of Hixson, brother, Joe Vandergriff, sister, Lois V. Lewis, grandchildren, Mark Potter, Brian Potter, Jenny Potter, Sarah Vandergriff, Rachel V. Robinson, great-grandchild, Jordan Potter.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 4, in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Mike Combs and the Reverend Curtis Henderson officiating. Interment will follow the service at Friendship Cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, at the funeral home.
