KZ-106 and the Cumulus family of stations invite the community to “Kelly’s Adopt-a-Thon” on Saturday, June 1, at the Humane Educational Society. Celebrating her passion for pets, this annual event continues the legacy of Kelly’s Pet Project, finding homes for hundreds of dogs through a partnership with the HES. The public is invited to join the fun at 4155 Randolph Cir. from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
The Humane Educational Society will be offering free adoptions with over 50 vendors, a pet portrait photo booth, and food trucks to celebrate finding forever families. Sponsored by The Hemp House, “The Dose” will play, led by Davis Mounger with guest trumpeter Sheryl Campbell. A genre-busting rock and roll band, they have been hits on the local live circuit and keep their audiences moving.
Kelly was part of the fabric of Chattanooga during a radio career that spanned more than 35 years following her years as an East Ridge Pioneer and Boyd-Buchanan Buccaneer. She was at WGOW-AM, as promotions director for Classic Rock WFXS, and then to Classic Rock KZ-106 where she became the area’s #1 midday radio host for two decades.
Scott Chase, operations manager, Cumulus Chattanooga, said, “Kelly set the standard for music radio hosts in Chattanooga and her love of animals was contagious. We are honored to carry on her mission to support the Humane Educational Society, pets, and their forever families.”
The event, sponsored by the Hemp House, will include pet and family-related vendors, live music, free give-away opportunities, free adoptions, food trucks and more.
