John William Cordell
John William Cordell, 88, of Hixson, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at the family residence, surrounded by his family.
John was the son of John Oliver and Odessa June Cordell. He was retired from DuPont after working 27 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as two brothers, Oliver and Larry Cordell and his sister, Mary Frances Harden.
Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Linda Blanks Cordell; two sons, Rodney Cordell and Michael (Kimber) Cordell; grandchildren, L J, Gage, and Kami Cordell; great-grandchildren, Jenny Cordell and Charlee Cordell; three brothers, Carroll (Betty), Ray (Karen), and Oliver (Donna); two sisters, Margie Brown and Alberta Stepp; and sister-in-law, Jackie Cordell. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, Hixson. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. Entombment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Mark Cordell, Nick Cordell, Ron Brown, Dennis Bethune, Verlin Bethune, and Keith Poteet.
Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
