Pascal Eugene Keel, Jr.
Pascal Eugene Keel, Jr., 87, moved peacefully into his heavenly home on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. He joined Ruth, his beloved wife of 63 years and saw his savior, Jesus Christ, face-to-face.
Gene, the oldest of six children, was born in Coalmont, Tn., to Pascal, Sr. and Florance Nunley Keel on June 17, 1936. He moved to Chattanooga as a young man, but loved his birthplace and maintained his ties there throughout his life.
Pascal developed many close friendships throughout his life in Chattanooga. He was a supervisor at Dixie Yarns, Inc. and those friends knew him as Pascal. For many years he was a busy local musician. He played bass guitar with Weldon Turner and the Turnovers and steel guitar with Terry Hickey's Old Country Band. To those friends he was P. K. To his much-loved brothers and sisters he was Gene; and Uncle Gene to his many adored nieces and nephews. But the name he loved and wore the best was daddy. His daughters, Donna and Teresa were grateful and privileged to call him that. And he loved a daughter-by-choice, Lisa Stanford Fortner as well.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his youngest brother Randal, and a sister, Carlene.
Gene is survived by his daughters: Donna Morgan and Teresa Keel. He is also survived by two sisters, Evelyn Marie (Mary) Keel, Ann (Bill) Reese; and one brother, JB (Rosemary) Keel.
Our family is so grateful to Amedisys Hospice for their kind and attentive care of our father and brother. Eric and Alyssa: you're the best. And Noreen: words cannot express how much your appreciation of our dad as a person and not just a patient has meant to us.
Funeral services will be conducted from the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home at 12 p.m. on Monday, May 20, with Rev. Eddie Rasnake of Woodland Park Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 a.m. until service time at the North Chapel.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
