  • Thursday, October 31, 2013

Authorities in Walker County are seeking Marcus Sutton as "a possible witness" in the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old man at an apartment complex on Fisher Road on Wednesday night.

Sheriff Steve Wilson said Sutton, 20, was at the apartment at or around the time of the shooting. He is facing charges of  aggravated assault, reckless conduct, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and violation of probation. Those four charges stem from an incident two weeks earlier.

Officers responded to a shots fire called shortly after 11:30 p.m. Police found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds.

Sheriff Wilson said the victim had been staying with a resident at the apartment complex for the past several days.

The tenant was out of the apartment walking a dog when the shooting happened. The resident said he did hear the gunshots. He said he had only been gone for about 15 minutes.
