Mayor, New Council Take Office With Tivoli Ceremony On Monday

A new mayor and City Council take office in ceremonies at the Tivoli Theater on Monday at 10 a.m.

Andy Berke, former state senator, takes the reins from Ron Littlefield, who served two terms.

There are only two returnees on the council - Carol Berz and Russell Gilbert.

Yusuf Hakeem served once before on the council.

Brand new council members are Chip Henderson, Jerry Mitchell, Larry Grohn, Chris Anderson, Moses Freeman and Ken Smith.

There's a brand new staff at the City Council offices - headed by Sandra Freeman.

Many city department heads and staffers will be changing as well. Those departed include Mike McMahan, Missy Crutchfield, Dan Johnson, Mark Kiel, Steve Leach, Larry Zehnder, Ron Swafford, Beverly Cosley, Beverly Johnson, Danny Thornton, Matt Lea and Kathie Fulgham.
