William R. Davis, 65, of Birchwood, died on Thursday, December 25, 2014 at his residence.

He was a native of Detroit, Mi., but had spent the greater part of his life in the Chattanooga area and was an engineer with Norfolk-Southern for 35 years.  Mr. Davis was a true family man and was involved with the Democratic Party and also served as an executive committee member for Local Divison #198 of B.L.E.  He was of the Church of God faith, an avid Tennessee Vols fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William L. and Vera Ladd Davis.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Anna Millsaps Davis; children, April Gabbert, Lamar Davis, Rene’ Davis, Cameron (Nicole) Davis, Charity Davis, and Steven Cronnon; brother, Samuel (Mary) Davis; sister, Linda (Rommel) Joyner; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Pastor James Blackmon officiating.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, Dec. 28, from 4–8 p.m., and Monday from 9 a.m. until the service hour at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
