David Lewis Hooker, 61, lifelong resident of Chattanooga, went to be with the Lord Saturday, February 8, 2014.
David and his wife, Evelyn Jo, were members of New City Fellowship PCA church. David graduated from Red Bank High School in 1969, served in the U.S.Air Force for eight years, attended Chattanooga State for two years and worked in Chattanooga as a licensed electrician.
His hobbies included ham radio,WB4KVZ, and art. He volunteered in the Army Mars emergency Communication System. David volunteered for several short-term disaster response mission trips to Haiti, Honduras, Mexico and Belize and helped out with ministry to the Latino community through New City.
He will be greatly missed by many family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond; mother, Betty; two brothers, Mark and Robert Hooker; and an infant grandson, Andrew Hooker Bowen.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Evelyn Jo; his three children, Jennifer Denise, Jonathan Christian and Kimberly Jeanette Hooker; his sister, Patricia Early; and nine treasured grandchildren.
The family will greet visitors on Wednesday, Feb.12, from 4-8 p.m., at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace, and on Thursday,12-1 p.m. at the church, with the service following at 1 p.m. at New City Fellowship, 2424 E. 3rd St.
A graveside military service will be conducted at the National Cemetery Holtzclaw and Bailey Ave., at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
There will be a reception at the church after the graveside service.
The family requests donations be made to Samaritan's Purse, in lieu of flowers.
