During the month of April, as part of the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, HCSO Property & Evidence Unit personnel along with patrol and reserve deputies participated two Drug Take-Back events. The first was at the Coca Cola Bottling Facility on Shepherd Road and the second was at Sequoyah High School in Soddy Daisy. These events were in partnership with several local businesses and community partners.
Officials said, "Altogether, over 519 pounds of used, expired or unnecessary prescription drugs were collected from both events, helping to ensure these medications will be safely disposed of and not end up potentially being stolen, misused or being flushed into our community’s water system.
"These are just two of the drug take-back events Property & Evidence personnel participate in on an annual basis to provide services for our community."
