CLEVELAND - Stalking hometown driver Ryan King late in the 40 lap NeSmith Crate Late Model race, Jimmy Elliott in his #J39 "Elliott's Tire Center owner, Car Smart Auto Sales, Easy Auto Credit, Stealth Racing Carburetors and AR Bodies" sponsored CVR Racecar of Cleveland, rubbed underneath the leader exiting turn four on the final lap to grab his second career victory on the series. King was second followed by fast qualifier and pole-sitter Cory Hedgecock of Loudon.
Elliott's known as "Mohawk Warrior" spun into the infield after tangling with a lapped car.
He was restored back to the third spot when series officials blamed the yellow on the slower car. Cory Hedgecock led the first four laps and was fast time which also lowered the track record., Ryan King led laps 5-39 with Elliott only leading the final few feet to the checkered flag. Walker Arthur of Forest, Va.., rallied from 12th to finish fourth. Others from the Tennessee/Georgia area in competition included Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, Tanner Works of Cleveland and Todd Morrow of East Ridge.
"Ryan was leaving just enough of the bottom groove open for me to get my nose in there going into turn three," Elliott said. "I got into him, and I didn't mean to, but it's the last lap, and it's for the win. That's racing." Night two of the double header at 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tn.) is $3,000 to-WIN tonight April 5. The race can be seen live on USTREAM.TV/channel/motorspeedway411.
