Three-time TSSAA state champion and UTC wrestler Michael Hooker has decided to focus his wrestling efforts with the U.S. Army Greco-Roman program and is currently in Boot Camp in South Carolina.

He will enroll at U. of Colorado at Colorado Springs in September and train at the Olympic Training Center as well as the U.S. Army sports facility.

“I will have two training facilities in Colorado Springs to work out at and hope to compete in some fall tournaments, including Dave Schultz and New York Athletic Center,” said Hooker who was 10-11 for UTC this past season and holds the TSSAA state career wins record at 240.

“Michael really wants to focus on Greco-Roman and this is a great opportunity for him and we wish him the best,” said UTC head wrestling coach Heath Eslinger.
