Jimmy Tawater And The Cat Daddy Band Play At Camp Jordan Jams Oct. 18

  • Tuesday, September 23, 2014

Jimmy Tawater and The Cat Daddy Band are coming to the Camp Jordan Park Amphitheatre for another free concert at 6 p.m. on Oct. 18 as part of Camp Jordan Jams.

This concert will also serve as an East Ridge High All-Class Reunion.  All students, no matter the class or whether they graduated or not, can join former East Ridge High student Jimmy Tawater and all of the former Pioneers for Camp Jordan Jams on Oct. 18.  People can bring school yearbooks and all of the old pictures and enjoy the concert.

The city of East Ridge is declaring Oct. 18 as East Ridge High Pioneers Day in the city and asking people to wear their school colors.

More than 600 visited Camp Jordan to listen to the Chattanooga Music Hall of Fame member, the Beaters, in concert on Saturday.

East Ridge Parks and Recreation Director Stump Martin said the Beaters concert was a hit with people dancing and singing and he expects the Oct. 18 date to be just as much fun.

“We will end the Camp Jordan Jams concert series this fall with Jimmy Tawater, who is another Chattanooga Music Hall of Fame member,” Mr. Martin said.  “We had people camping in the RV Park and cooking out before the concert and I expect more of the same this time. We want everybody to make it their party.”

Mr. Martin said another good crowd for the concert would guarantee that Camp Jordan Jams will return in the Spring of 2015.

“I saw Jimmy Tawaterer in concert many times at Dino’s and other places my mother doesn’t know about,” Mr. Martin said. “I had an opportunity to see him again at Libertyfest this year and he’s still playing Classic Rock and hopping around on the stage like he was 21. His energy level makes me want to get up and dance.”

Mr. Martin said that about a dozen classic and muscle cars were on display at the last Camp Jordan Jam and he anticipated more on Oct. 18.

“We have plenty of room and the people really enjoyed the cars at the last concert,” Mr. Martin said. “We would like to fill up the field with them this time.”
