DA Pinkston Asks TBI Investigate Beating Of Man By Red Bank Police After Traffic Stop

  • Thursday, September 25, 2014

District Attorney Neal Pinkston said Thursday he has requested the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to investigate the actions depicted in a April 13 video capturing events leading up to and including the arrest of Candido Menina Resendiz by the Red Bank Police Department.

He said, "In addition, the request seeks an investigative review into the circumstances surrounding the availability of the video at the defendant's preliminary hearing at Red Bank Municipal Court and at subsequent stages of the criminal justice process."

Resendiz's attorneys said he was beaten by police after his vehicle was stopped April 13.

The Red Bank Police cleared Mark Kaylor of using excessive force.

The video was initially not turned over to attorneys by Red Bank Police.
