Thomas Paul Sims, 88, of East Ridge, died on Friday, January 30, 2015.

Mr. Sims was born in Hamilton County and was a member of Brainerd Baptist Church and belonged to the Friendship Sunday School Class.  He was a graduate of Chattanooga City High School Class of 1945 serving as Class President. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the Europe 88th Infantry Division and the Korean War with Combat Engineers.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joy Sims; children, Richard Sims, William Sims, Rebecca Lackey and Robert Sims; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3, and noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4, at the funeral home with Dr. Ronnie Mitchell officiating. 

Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors.

Memorial donations may be made to the Association of the Blind, 1511 C Karwill Ln, Chattanooga, TN 37412.  

Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist, 404 South Moore Road.
