Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort is kicking off the new year with major additions designed to enhance the visitor experience. On Friday, Ober Gatlinburg opened “Yeti’s Run,” the first new slope since the addition of Mogul Ridge in 1987. The 700-foot long trail has a vertical drop of 120 feet and is equipped with lights for night skiing. Rated as an intermediate trail, “Yeti’s Run” begins at the top of Ober Chute and ends at the intersection of three different trails, providing additional choices for skiers and snowboarders.

Also new this year to Ober Gatlinburg are five HKD Snowmakers low energy snowmaking towers. The upgrade to the snowmaking system was made possible by a NSAA (National Ski Areas Association) Sustainable Slopes Grant. Ober Gatlinburg was one of only four ski resorts in the nation to receive the sustainability grant. Positioned on Lower Bear Run, the new snowmaking towers use less energy, make less noise while providing a high-efficiency snowmaking process.

The slippery slopes weren’t the only upgrades this year. Ski Mountain Sports opened a state-of-the-art service center.  Equipped with a new Reichmann Profi4 ski and snowboard tuning machine, the shop is the only authorized Reichmann tuning and repair shop east of the Mississippi River. The shop offers express same-day tuning and discounts for season pass holders. The equipment rental services saw upgrades as well with electric boot-drying racks added to cover 100% of the boot inventory.  All of the enhancements are designed to improve guest experience at the resort.

The only ski resort in Tennessee, Ober Gatlinburg features ten trails serviced by two quad lifts, one double lift and one surface lift. The resort offers terrain for all abilities, from a beginner experiencing the joy of snow sports for the first time, to a seasoned expert hitting the moguls and terrain park. Ober Gatlinburg also has a popular snow tubing park, ski and snowboard equipment and clothing rentals, an ice skating rink, aerial tramway, Seasons of Ober Restaurant and Loft Lounge shopping and more.
