Aaron Harris
Officers with the Chattanooga Police Department responded early Monday morning to a burglary in progress call at 2509 Hamilton Cove Dr. Dispatch reported that the homeowner was inside the residence and could hear someone else moving and talking inside the home.
George team officers, Officer Jeremy Wilson and his K-9 partner Kilo responded to the scene quickly. Once on scene, they observed an open door in the rear of the house, and established a perimeter.
Once dispatch informed the officers that the homeowners were secure in a locked bedroom, they approached the rear door where Officer Wilson announced that K9 Kilo would be entering the home and ordered the suspect to exit the residence.
When there was no answer from inside, K-9 Kilo made entry through the garage through a door off the interior of the home. K-9 Kilo located and apprehended the suspect who was lying on the floor under the car.
The suspect, Aaron Harris, 53, was placed in police custody and suffered only minor injuries from the K-9 apprehension. Officers transported Harris to a local hospital for a medical evaluation where he was shortly released, then transported for questioning. Harris was then transported to the Hamilton County Jail and charged with aggravated burglary and theft over $1,000.
