Scots Soccer Falls 2-1 To Berry In Overtime

ROME, Ga. -- Isaac Johnson scored the equalizer in the 85th minute, but the Covenant men's soccer team fell in overtime at Berry 2-1 on Monday evening in Rome, Ga. 

The loss snaps a three-match unbeaten streak for Covenant and moves the Scots to 3-6-1 overall.

Berry improves to 3-4-2 on the year.

Johnson scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season late in the second period to draw the Scots even at 1-1. Johnson's shot came off a clearance attempt by Berry keeper Zachary Wroblewski.

The host Vikings would take the match in the fifth minute of the first overtime session. Enrique Garcia found the back of the net from a few yards out to give Berry the victory.

Despite being outshot 28-13, and 15-8 in shots on goal, Covenant was able to keep the match tight throughout.Daniel Kubin and Jonathan Crossman combined to make 13 saves on the evening. Crossman made eight of those to set a new career-high. 

Berry took a 1-0 lead into halftime after a 35th-minute goal from Ben Ebersole, assisted by Daniel Shaw. The Vikings held that advantage before Johnson's goal in the second half.
