A worker killed in an accident at the Wrigley plant on Jersey Pike early Tuesday morning has been identified as Wallace Scarbro, 54.
At approximately 12:07 a.m., the Chattanooga Police Department responded to a medical call at 3002 Jersey Pike. Officers were advised that the victim was involved in a work-related accident on the property at Wrigley Manufacturing Company and sustained life-threatening injuries. Mr. Scarboro succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene. He was later transported to the Hamilton County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Denise Young, of Wrigley, said, "We are deeply saddened to confirm that one of our associates was involved in a fatal accident onsite at our Chattanooga factory very early this morning. We are in the process of working with appropriate authorities in the investigation. Right now, there is little we can say to make this easier, and out of respect for the family and our associates, we will not comment further at this time."
In October of 2013, Mandie Chitwood, 34, died in an accident at the same plant.
The plant received citations from OSHA over that death.
