Lee University’s Chorale

Lee University’s Chorale will present its spring concert titled, “Music of the Night” on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in Pangle Hall. Chorale is directed by School of Music Dean Dr. William R. Green.

The concert will feature various pieces that share common night themes. The centerpiece of the program will be “Three Nocturnes” by Dan Forrest, a piece for choir and percussion ensemble. According to Dr. Green, this work contains movements that investigate the mystery and majesty of the heavens. The inspiration for this work comes from Psalm 8:3-4, which says, "When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; what is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him?"

Also included are thematic works from Eleanor Daley and Johannes Brahms.  The concert will conclude with selections from the theater including, “Music of the Night” from Phantom of the Opera, “I See the Light” from Tangled, and “It’s a Grand Night for Singing” from State Fair.

Review for the Lee University Chorale:

Lee University has long been recognized as a great place for choral music. For decades, choirs of various sizes have found a home on the Lee campus, each with a distinct personality. Today, over a decade after its inception, Chorale has solidified itself as an elite ensemble of highly motivated vocalists. Chorale is known for the breadth of its repertoire, which ranges from sacred classical works and spirituals to vibrant cultural pieces. They have been featured in performances at Carnegie Hall and have traveled across Europe performing at the Vatican, St. Mark’s Cathedral in Venice, and St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin.  Most recently the Chorale was privileged to sing as a part of the Lee University Festival Choir at the 2013 Presidential Inauguration in Washington, D.C. and toured Austria as a part of the Vienna 2015 Advent-sing.

This free, non-ticketed event is open to the public.
