A man was struck with a pipe, then shot at, early Saturday morning.

Chattanooga Police Department officers were dispatched to an aggravated assault where a party was shot at by a suspect.

Once on the scene, police spoke with the victim, Charles Moore, 24, who advised that he had been partying all night with the suspect, Robert Murphy II, 27, when a fight broke out between the two.

According to the victim, Murphy struck him with a pipe in the head, causing him to briefly lose consciousness.

As Moore attempted to leave the residence, Murphy fired numerous rounds from a handgun at Moore, police were told. Murphy then went back inside the residence.

Officers attempted to have Murphy surrender, but he did not comply and refused to go outside.

Due to his refusal, the SWAT Team was contacted and responded.

Shortly before the SWAT Team converged on the scene, Murphy went out the back door and surrendered without incident.

Murphy is charged with attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possessing drugs for resale and theft of property.
