Folk School Of Chattanooga Appoints Laura Walker As New Executive Director

  • Friday, June 19, 2015

The Folk School of Chattanooga announced the appointment of Laura Walker as its new Executive Director. Ms. Walker  has been involved in the local music scene for many years, both as a performer with the Dismembered Tennesseans, Timbre Fox and other bands, and as a veteran music and voice teacher. Her energy and experience will be a valuable asset as the Folk School ramps up its programs in the coming months.

Established in 2009, the Folk School fosters a thriving community of musicians and music supporters through educational programs and public events, with a primary focus on the music of our region.

The Folk School offers education in traditional folk music styles through individual music lessons, group classes, and community events.

Laura Walker’s appointment furthers the Folk School’s mission of promoting and preserving traditional music and other folk arts. “It’s really exciting to have this opportunity to make a positive difference in a field I love,” explains Laura. “To be able to teach music and share it with others is a true blessing.”
