Erlanger Planning New Community Health Clinic On The Southside

  • Saturday, September 12, 2015

Erlanger Health System anticipates developing plans for a new health center on the Southside.  With that in mind, Joe Winick and Gregg Gentry told an advisory group to County Commissioner Greg Beck that Erlanger is looking at possible sites including Ohl's Avenue for the new clinic.

Commissioner Beck said Erlanger officials told members of his United Community Action Alliance that lease payments at the current location of the Southside Community Health Center are high.

Steps are being taken to make that clinic and one on Dodson Avenue more efficient.

Mr. Winick said a new board will be put into place that is anticipated to include from 9 to 12 members, with 51 percent of the members comprised of community representatives that utilize the health centers along with Erlanger appointees. The new board will have a co-applicant relationship with Erlanger.

Mr. Winick is currently heading up the center and patients are continuing to be seen, it was stated.

At the time of the changes, Erlanger officials said the clinics had cost overruns of over $2 million.

The officials said Erlanger is taking all steps necessary to retain the federal grant.
