Mike A. Little officially announced his candidacy for Hamilton County Criminal Court Judge, Division 2. He seeks to replace Judge Rebecca Stern who retired from the bench in June of this year.

“After much thought, prayer and guidance, I am running for Hamilton County Criminal Court Judge,” said Mr. Little. “I have been committed to public service my entire career, whether professionally or as a volunteer, and I believe I have a fair and balanced temperament to be the right choice for Criminal Court Judge.”

Mr. Little started his own firm in 1997 and practiced law for 17 years, providing criminal defense for a variety of clients across 11 Tennessee counties, as well as the Eastern District of Tennessee, U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and the Tennessee Supreme Court. He has also served as special judge in multiple criminal proceedings.

In August 2014, Mr. Little joined the Hamilton County Public Defender’s office as executive assistant and is responsible for directing 14 assistant public defenders.

“With Mike’s experience on both sides of the bench, along with his management expertise, I believe he is completely competent to be a great judge and run an efficient and productive courtroom,” said Campaign Manager Brian O'Shaughnessy. “His moral and ethical standards are unparalleled, and he holds the utmost respect from his associates, clients and civic leaders across the county.”

Barry Abbott will serve as campaign treasurer and added, “Mike is just straight ahead and very smart. The support he has received already is tremendous and his experience and balanced perspective certainly qualifies him for this job.”

Mr. Little received his J.D. from the Nashville School of Law in 1996 and a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1992 from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Prior to practicing law, he held various management positions in the hospitality industry.

He serves as an officer advocate for the Knights of Columbus and as a race volunteer for the Chattanooga Area Soap Box Derby. He is a past member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club, Chattanooga Jaycees and served as a Hamilton County Republican delegate.

Mr. Little belongs to the Chattanooga Bar Association, Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and The National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He and his wife, Lynn, have three children, Joseph, Joshua and Jessica.
