Dalton, GA-  On a rainy day at Lakeshore Field, the Dalton State soccer team won a decisive game over their visitors from Fisk University.  The game was delayed for more than an hour due to travel difficulties for Fisk.

While the game was delayed, the Roadrunners offensive attack was right on time.  Tomide Adabale opened the scoring on a beautiful assist from Grant Dupertuis at the 37:44 mark of the first half.  It would be his first of Adabale’s four goals on the day, and Dupertuis was all over the field throughout match for the Roadrunners.   Adabale’s second goal came from a great assist from Isael Guiterrez at the 35:36 mark.

With the Roadrunners leading 2-0, they kept the foot on the gas and scored three more times on goals by Emmanuel Olusanya, Tony Baza and Andres Pena to take a 5-0 lead into halftime.

The second half was much of the same with Adabale and CJ Moore both adding two goals with a Ramiro Guerrero goal sandwiched in between.  Fisk scored on an impressive penalty kick for their only goal of the game.  In addition to the assists by Dupertuis and Guiterrez in the first half, Connor Curran, Tyler Hudson, and Jose Villalobos all added helpers in the second half.   Overall, the ten goals was the most ever scored by a Dalton State soccer team.

Coach Kerem Daser was impressed with his team’s performance.

“Today was a physical game, and it was nice to pick up a win after a tough loss on Friday night,” said Daser.  “It is hard to play two matches in less than 24 hours, but our team is tough.“

The first Dalton State conference game will be held Thursday at Lakeshore Park.

“Our team showed discipline and I thought the team showed great caring and togetherness when we lost a couple players to injury,” added Daser.  “We will have a great week of practice leading into our first conference match against national power AUM on Thursday.  I hope that we have a great crowd and that we are able to heal quickly because we will need all hands on deck to challenge an established program like AUM.  We all look forward to the challenge.”

Thursday’s game against number 13 ranked AUM is scheduled for a 7pm start at Lakeshore Field.
