TVA Returns As Free Family Nights Sponsor At Creative Discovery Museum

  • Monday, October 10, 2016

Creative Discovery Museum announces that for the second year in a row TVA is sponsoring the Museum’s Free Family Nights. Held on the second Thursday of each month, Free Family Nights provide free admission to all visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. after normal operating hours.

“The Museum is committed to being as accessible as possible to all the children and families of our community,” said Henry Schulson, executive director at the Creative Discovery Museum. “The Free Night program provides an opportunity for all to visit regardless of ability to pay. We are especially pleased to have TVA with its tremendous history of public service as one of our Free Family Night sponsors.”

Through TVA’s sponsorship in 2015, the Museum increased its focus on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) activities during the free evenings. The Museum will continue to expand its STEM activities in the coming year. In addition to the Museum’s staple exhibits, the Museum will present a science show in its Science Theater each evening and will also offer a variety of walk-up activities from learning about forces and motion through, learn about electricity by building circuits and engage in a variety of other activities during special STEM sessions led by Museum educators. Each evening will also feature an interactive science show in the Museum’s Science Theater.

“TVA values our partnership with the Creative Discovery Museum as we continue our mission of service to the people of the Tennessee Valley,” said TVA Director of Public and Community Relations Gail Rymer. “The overwhelming success of the Free Family Nights reaffirms our long-standing commitment to promote STEM education across the Valley to inspire our community’s youth and prepare them for the careers of the future.”

In 2015, TVA’s sponsorship helped the Museum host almost 10,000 visitors on Free Family Night as well as two community free days held in December. The program is an aspect of the Museum’s mission to inspire all children in the greater Chattanooga area to explore, innovate, create and play.

The Museum’s next Free Family Night is scheduled for Thursday. For more information on future Free Family Nights, visit the Museum’s website at www.cdmfun.org.
