Mary Helen Lewis, 85of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016 at her residence.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Lewis, Jr.; son, TSGT. Louis H. Silmon; parents, Jim Silmon and Alberta Whitlow; brothers, Charlie Blunt, Tommy James Whitlow and Willie Frank Whitlow; and special cousin, Mattie Ruth Thomas.

She is survived by her sisters, Elder Sandra Faye Harmon of Mableton, GA and Evangelist Nell Postell of LaFayette, AL; daughter-in-law, Christine Silmon of Chickamauga, GA; grandchildren, Ken Silmon of Chickamauga, Tina (Kevin) Silmon of Villa Rica, GA and Steven (Kristie) Lewis of Chickamauga; special great-granddaughter, Dacia “Sugar” Silmon; sisters-in-law, Mary Lewis and Mary Lean Blunt; special friends, Gail Rice and Ida Mae; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, Oct. 7 at noon at Hope City Church, 7 North Tuxedo Avenue, Chattanooga, with Elder Sandra Harmon and other ministers officiating.

The family will receive friends at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Thursday, Oct. 6 from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
