"The Ruby Hurley Image Awards serves as the signature fundraiser for the branch, and helps us fulfill our endearing mission which is to stand firm for economic, educational, social, political and criminal justice. It also serves as an opportunity to recognize lifetime members, recruit new life and corporate members and to honor community activists who demonstrated the truest nature of devotion to us all by giving so much of themselves. We thank you tremendously for your past and present support. The theme for this year is Black Power Reloaded Through The Vote, and will be held at the Stratton Hall, located 3146 Broad St, Chattanooga, TN 37408. Tickets for this event are seventy-five dollars, and this includes the dinner portion of this affair.

"Our guest speaker will be the renowned Civil Rights Activist and Accomplished Educator, Dr. Horace J. Traylor of Miami Florida. Dr. Traylor spent many years working with the late James R. Mapp as well as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the Civil Rights Movement here in Chattanooga.  Dr. Traylor was the president of the first Black College; Zion College which later merged with the University of Chattanooga and ultimately became what is now the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.  Dr. Traylor retired from Miami Dade College as president.

"We invite all the members of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County community to come join us as we applaud and salute the dedication, commitment and accomplishments as exhibited by our very worthy award recipients, and assist the NAACP  as we prepare to face the needs and challenges of the community in the future," said Dr. Eleonora Woods, president, Chattanooga Hamilton County NAACP.
