Sarah Elizabeth Anderson Nabors, 78, of New Hope, Tennessee, passed away at home, surrounded by her family on Thursday, December 8, 2016.
The daughter of the late Joseph S. and Bernice VanDurisen Anderson, she was of the Methodist faith. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She liked to travel and take cruises and especially enjoyed playing the penny slots at Harrah’s.
Sarah retired from Kmart in South Pittsburg and also worked with her husband at their restaurant, Al’s Carry-out. She was an avid reader and was known for keeping up-to-date on news and politics. She is remembered by many for her many acts of kindness and benevolence in her community – many times providing Christmas presents for those who would otherwise have had nothing under the tree.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Bernice Anderson; grandson, Kevin Scott King; and brothers, Don, Joe and Bill Anderson.
She is survived by her husband, Al Nabors; daughters, Deb (Peter Camilleri) King and Denise (Lamar) Blevins all of New Hope; grandchildren, Brad Blevins of Washington, DC, Beth (Jimmy Clyde) McGullion and Blake King both of New Hope; great-grandchildren, Jake and Jackson McGullion and Braxtin Blevins; brother, Ralph (Carolyn) Anderson of Lexington, KY; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 2 p.m. Central time with Reverend Troy Luttrell officiating. Interment will be in New Hope Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 4-8 p.m. Central time at the funeral home.
