James (Jimmy) L. Pratt, of Dalton, Georgia, died on Sunday, February 21, 2016.

Reverend Pratt was a veteran of the United States Army. He faithfully upheld his office as a minister and Pastor in The Church of God of the Union Assembly for nearly 50 years. He was a loving man who never met a stranger, his love and devotion to God was evident in his service to God’s people.

From a child into adulthood he had a commitment to studying the Word of God that was nearly second to none. He regarded his calling, and anointing from God with humility as a sacred gift used for the honor and glory of God. His walk of holiness was one to shine as an ensample to all those who knew him; he embodied the definition of a soldier of the cross of Mount Calvary.

Reverend Pratt was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel Russell Pratt, Jesse F Pratt, Sr. and Irene; and brothers, David Pratt and Jesse F Pratt, Jr. and Wanda.

Reverend Pratt is survived by his loving wife, Jackie Pratt ; son, Marti and Melissa Pratt; siblings, Charles and Betty Pratt, Charlie and Joy Pratt, Pam and Steve Hall, Margaret and Denny Smith, Johnnie and Hazel Pratt and Marty Pratt; and grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Feb. 24 from 5-9 p.m. at Church of God of the Union Assembly.

The body will lie in state prior to the service on Thursday, Feb. 25 from 12-2 p.m. with services following at The Church of God of the Union Assembly with Reverend Stoney Kiser, Reverend Oley Wilson and Reverend James C Pratt officiating. Burial will immediately follow at West Hill Cemetery, Dalton.

Arrangements are by Love Funeral Home of Dalton.

In lieu of flowers, monetary donations for funeral expenses may be made directly to Love Funeral Home.
